Inscribed by poet Davison to Harper Magazine editor Frederick Lewis Allen and his wife Agnes - "the best of colleagues" - and dated by him 1940, the year of publication. Davison (1898 - 1970) was a Scottish poet and critic, widely published as a poet in the 1920s. He emigrated too the USA and held a faculty position at the University of Colorado in Boulder. His famous poem "Be Thou at Peace" was set to music by composer John Raynor. Frederick Lewis Allen (1890 - 1954) was the editor of Harper's Magazine and also notable as an American historian of the first half of the twentieth century. Book lacking dustjacket, some wear about edges, still a solid copy. Very Good / Lacking Dustjacket. Item #013386
