He entered the shipping business in 1988 with Kunhardt & Co. then general shipping agents for the German line. When the Hamburg- American Line opened its own offices in NY, he joined the staff, advancing quickly to be its executive. 8vo, green suede covers, yapped edges, versos of covers green silk moire, 22, (6). Suede faded to brown as expected most notably about edges, otherwise in remarkably well preserved. Inscribed in German on the verso of the half-title by Meyer and dated Highland Mills, NY Sept 1906.
