Early edition of treatise attributed to Protestant theologian Phillip Hiller (1699 - 1769) published for the German Evangelical Lutheran Synode of Missouri, Ohio and and other central states. Worldcat lists only 5 collections with copies of these variously dated 1883, 1885, 1879, and 1878. We have two copies, one dated 1889, published by Martin C, Barthel, small 8vo, mustard cloth, blind-stamped decoration all around, gilt spine title, 174 pages, stated 17th edition title page, neat ink gift inscription ffe. The other copy, dated 1893, published by Concordia Publishing (which remains the publishing arm of the Lutheran Church in the US), is uniform in format with the other but bound in cordovan cloth, a different blind-stamped decoration all around and gilt titles to both front and spine, decorated endpaper, gte, gift inscription fly leaf dated 26 May 1889.
