NY: Dempsey and Carroll (printer), 1898. Soft cover. Dinner program for the testimonial dinner honoring Richard Croker (1843 - 1922), Tammany Hall boss from the early 1880s until 1901. This testimonial dinner occurred at the height of Croker's power as Tammany boss: Croker's greatest political success was the 1897 election of Tammany's candidate, Robert A. Van Wyck, as first mayor of the five-borough "greater" New York. During Van Wyck's administration Croker dominated the government of the city. The brochure, about 5"x7'", has limp tan leather covers, tied with leather ribbon, and gilt pressed titles. 12 pages, unpaginated, with picture of Croker, menu (in French) by Delmoinco (where presumably the banquet occurred) and membership lists of all the committees organizing the event.
