NY: Alfred A. Knopf, 1928. 1st Edition. Hardcover. A set of cuisine author Morton Shand titles. Philip Morton Shand (1888 - 1960) was an English journalist, architecture critic (an early proponent of modernism), wine and food writer, entrepreneur and pomologist. He is also the paternal grandfather of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, the second wife of Charles, Prince of Wales. All first US editions with Knopf imprint - FRENCH WINES (1928), OTHER WINES (1929) and FOOD (1928) - but printed in England. BACCHUS, which was written before the other three titles is undated, bearing imprints of Keagan Paul Trench Trubner in London and Dutton NY. The Knopf titles are all better than very good lacking dustjackets. The Bacchus titles has polished paper cover boards with pastedowns front and spine in dustjacket that is chipped with a short tape repair top edge front panel. No names, inscriptions or bookplates in any of them. Shand wrote on topics other than food and wien, but this collection are all of his titles on those topics. Very Good. Item #011473
