On flyleaf is a full page original illustration in black ink signed Ole with two cartoon figures flanking the inscription: "To The Lambs/ Lest You Forget/ The Maniacs Olsen (signed) and Johnson (signed)/ March 14, 1943" with one figure proclaiming "sons of fun", the other bearing a placard "Hellzapoppin" The musical revue, a vaudevillian romp with risque humor, had songs by music and lyrics by Sammy Fain and Charles Tobias. The revue was a hit, running for over three years, and was at the time the longest-running Broadway musical, with 1,404 performances. A national tour followed, and a movie version with the playwright performers plus Martha Ray, followed in 1941. In 1976, there was a stage revival starring Jerry Lewis and Lynn Redgrave, but it closed on the road, never making it back to Broadway. Near Fine. Item #011173
