Apr 1933" Rice wrote We, The People as a warning shot to Americans about the rise of Hitler and fascism. Rice was one of the founders in 1938 of the Playwrights' Company, along with Maxwell Anderson, Robert E. Sherwood, Kurt Weil and lawyer John F. Wharton. The Adding Machine has been revived in recent years, this uncommon first edition of the play a production of The Theatre Guild. Rare in first edition; the inscription sui generis.
